Empowering our Youth
On February 16th, 2017, selected students from sixth, seventh, and eighth grade participated in an empowerment presentation presented by Mr. Adam Herndon,  the great great nephew of the late Mr. Alonzo Herndon. Alonzo Herndon, a former slave, who was a prominent black pioneer during the early 1900’s, became the first black millionaire in the city of Atlanta. Adam Herndon shared with the students a brief history lesson regarding his late uncle’s obstacles, his accomplishments and how he was persistent in achieving his dreams of becoming a successful black male in America. Mr. Adam Herndon imparted knowledge relevant to our students’ abilities which inspired them to strive to be the “blue lion”, which represents the leader, in the pack.
